“Currahee” obviously a very powerful word

Lake Hartwell, Perfect of Boating, Fishing and Leisurely Afternoons

Last weekend was a perfect opportunity to take a boat ride on Lake Hartwell. Our favorite time on the lake is late afternoon when there are usually few large boats and we take a leisurely ride north toward the Currahee Club docks and the “divorced bridges”. I never cease to be amazed when we round the bend and the Clubhouse is visible on the horizon. Rather than being intrusive, its presence is a beautiful reminder that “Currahee” is a Cherokee word meaning “stands alone”.

With the water level about four feet below full pool, the striper fishing is fine and we saw several canoes and kayaks enjoying the calm waters. The T-60 Grill is open on the weekends and is now accessible from the lake. Make plans to visit the Currahee Club soon and take advantage of this wonderful resource.
